We want to make the LoMo community aware about the SEPTA Forward: Bus Revolution initiative, a comprehensive redesign of SEPTA’s entire bus network to make buses more reliable, efficient, and simpler to understand and use. As a part of this effort, SEPTA has released two unique network options which reimagine the regional bus network as it exists today. These two scenarios build upon SEPTA’s work on the project to date, including a State of the Bus System report, Market Analysis, Route Profiles, and public feedback received in summer and fall of 2021.
SEPTA recently launched a public survey to collect feedback on the two network options. We encourage LoMo community members to take the survey and weigh in on your preferences for an improved bus network. As an added bonus, everyone that leaves their email address will have a chance to win one of ten $25 Visa Gift Cards or $25 added to your SEPTA Key Card.
SEPTA will also be holding a number of in-person and virtual engagement opportunities through the end of June, including a pop-up event at Broad & Oregon on Tuesday, May 31st and a virtual Community Conversation for South Philly on Thursday, June 16th—advanced registration is required.
Timeline of SEPTA Bus Network Redesign:
As a whole, Network Option 1 offers a more streamlined network and includes an expansive frequent network of buses arriving every 10 minutes or less from 6am – 9pm, including on the weekends. However, this option requires trade offs such as the elimination of certain bus routes. Network Option 2 is more similar to the current network with a smaller frequent network and more low-frequency coverage service, but also increases service on the weekends compared to existing service levels.
The following table is meant to provide a quick comparison between the two network options for routes that serve LoMo, but is not intended to substitute for the full details about these routes on the project website.
