Our guest speaker from the Mural Arts Program, Shari Hersh, will discuss how artists are working within a community to make for a safer and cleaner neighborhood with community input and participation, specifically how MAP’s “Playgrounds for Useful Knowledge”, which is focused on an area dubbed “The South Seven” comprised of seven interconnected neighborhoods of eastern South Philadelphia (including part of LoMo), resulted in an initiative that is addressing trash in the area, dubbed “Trash Academy”.
